The Venetian Macao, Macao

Welcome to the Monaco of the Orient. Macao has become a hot spot for casinos and nightlife worldwide and is rightly called the Las Vegas of Asia nowadays, with most of the largest casinos in the worlds being situated here. Harking back to the time of being a Portuguese trading colony, the Venetian Macao uses architectural styles of different centuries to evoke an exotic mix of pure luxury and industriousness under the same roof. And what a huge roof it is, for the Venetian is the 2nd largest casino on earth and also the largest single-structure hotel and resort in all of Asia!

Owned by the American Las Vegas Sands company, the 10,500,000-square-foot is modeled similar to its sister casino The Venetian Las Vegas. In the main gaming area Venetian architecture dominates, with a large hall seemingly chapel and shopping mall at the same time. Big gaming areas follow different themes while a channel system lets visitors hire gondolas - including singing Gondoliere of course - to get from A to B. Simply booking a room doesn't describe it. It's like booking a "room" in a small town. Resort meets hotel meets casino. With channels and a 24-hour dining outlet. More than 500,000 square feet offer seemingly endless Baccarat and Poker tables, entire wings reserved for roulette and of course, thousands of square feet of slot machines. Imagine waking up, going down to the pools for a swim, feasting on a full breakfast with exotic dishes and fruit, changing and going back to the countless table games for the rest of the day. Without ever having to walk more than just a couple of steps!

Caesar's Palace, Las Vegas, Nevada

Naturally Las Vegas has to appear on this list. Smack in the middle of this legendary town lies Caesar's Palace, with 150,000 square feet of marble columns, famous spiral staircases and a simply absurd number of slot games played around the clock. To call the Caesar's a resort might be an overstatement, but perhaps it could be called a casino-resort due to its extensive section of sports betting and horse betting booths. Yes, you read that correctly, you get to book your own private booth for watching whatever sports game or race event you might currently be betting on. As far as casino venues go, Las Vegas is of course a must-have on anybody's bucket list. From resorts offering both spa experiences as well as thousands of square feet of gaming areas (filled with successful slot games such as Book of Ra for example) to beautiful casinos that have been around since the golden era, Las Vegas offers some of the best gaming experiences and some of the most beautiful casinos to this day. Sun City Casino Resort, South Africa

A 2-hour drive through the South African bush north-west of Johannesburg will get you to the legendary Sun City Casino Resort. First opened at the end of the 70s', it's one of those truly "anything goes" resorts perfect for high rollers and those believing themselves to be. Forget about going to the bar for a drink after a few rounds at the slot machines. In Sun City you hire yourself a guide and go on safari after having played some of the more than 850 different slot machines available around the clock. The Sun City resort still counts as one of the best gambling venues in the world, even if we can't be sure about square footage or available rooms due to the many different hotels on the resort. We feel inclined to just view the whole place as one big casino, even if it doesn't rival the raw square-feet numbers of the Macao casinos. 

MGM Grand, Las Vegas

The single largest hotel in the United States with almost 7,000 rooms available, the MGM Grand is the casino everybody thinks about when they hear the name Las Vegas. From the golden lion statue out front to the main hall being used in countless heist and road movies, the MGM Grand casino is less of a resort and more of a full-fledged gambling venue that aims to allow players of conviction to maximize their game time during their stay in Vegas.

City of Dreams, Macao

The City of Dreams resort opened in 2009 with a ridiculous at a cost of more than two billion dollars. Also one of the five biggest casinos in the world, it offers more than 1,500 slot machines and more than 800 table games. As a full fledged casino resort, the City of Dreams offers its guests more than 20 different high-class restaurants and the famous "House of dancing water" - a show featuring some 80 artists from around the world performing in a simply ridiculously large pool. In case splashing around with Lord of the Ocean or Dolphin's Pearl deluxe isn't enough. Really, what more could you ask for at this point?

WinStar World Casino, Oklahoma

The largest casino on Earth is owned by the Chickasaw Nation was opened its doors originally in 2004. Remodeled and expanded, the new version of the resort was re-opened in 2009 and boasts the title of largest casino resort to this day. It offers more than 8,500 electronic games, more than 100 table games, a separate hall of poker tables and a special high limit room.

Booking a stay at the WinStar World Casino also includes access to the spa facility, a pool-and-grotto combo and of course the attached golf courses (yes, that's plural) and RV-park.
