If a race does not start or no competitor finishes, all bets will be void and refunded, provided the race is not subsequently restarted. The number on the betting slip stands for the name of the horse/dog. The numbering of the racing paper is decisive. If a horse/dog starts twice in one day, all bets are valid for the next race, unless the race is specified.
Withdrawn Horse - Rule 4(c)
If a horse is withdrawn before the start, the determination of winnings will be made using Tattersall's Rule 4(c) and stakes on the withdrawn horse will be void. If there was no time to recalculate the betting market before the start of the race, winnings will be reduced depending on the winning percentage of the withdrawn horse. The reduction does not affect the wager.
For example, if you place a £1 bet on a horse at 6/1 then that would normally return £7.00 (£6 + £1 stake).
If in the same race, a horse with odds of 6/1 was withdrawn, Rule 4 would calculate a 10% reduction.
The total payout would then be: £6 - 10% = £5.40 + £1 stake = £6.40.
If more than one horse is withdrawn in a race, the reduction may not exceed 90%.
If there has been sufficient time to recalculate the odds before the start, the reduction will only affect those bets or board prices that were placed before the withdrawal was announced. In the event a reserve horse starts, all bets will stand. If the bet is an early price and the selected horse becomes a non-runner, that early price will be void.
In the event of a dead heat in one or more places, the profit is divided by the number of dead heat horses.
If less than 5 horses start, the place money will be invested to win.
Cancelled Race
If a race is cancelled without exception, all bets on this race will be void and refunded. If a race is held at a different venue, then all bets placed prior to the announcement of the change will also be void and refunded.
Winner
Bet on the winning horse of a respective race.
Each Way
An each-way bet consists of a win bet and a place bet, which are entered on a betting slip with the same stake but are calculated like single bets.
The following applies to the calculation of places or place odds:
Number of starters per race: 2-4, race winners only
Number of starters per race: 5-7, ¼ odds, places: 1.2
Number of starters per race: 8+, 1⁄5 odds, places:
Number of starters per race: 16+ handicap race, ¼ odds, places: 1,2,3,4
Each-way accumulator bets are settled win-on-win and place-on-place.
Forecast
A Forecast bet can be typed in two different ways: In the "straight" forecast, the selected horses must finish in the correct order in 1st and 2nd place. With the addition "Any" the selected horses must finish first and second, regardless of the order. It should be noted that this combination involves two bets and therefore double the stake must be paid. At least 3 starters must participate and the two horses/dogs selected in the forecast bet must start, otherwise the bet is void and the stake is refunded.
Tricast
The tricast corresponds to a run-in bet on the first, second and third place winners. The bet is won if the horses reach the finish line in the exact order bet. If the customer selects "Any" next to the starters, the bet is combined and wins if the selected horses finish in any order in the first three places. It should be noted that the customer places six bets here and therefore has to pay six times the stake. At least 5 starters must participate.
Placepot
Select a horse to be placed in each of the nominated races. The standard Tote Placepot will typically involve the first six races of each meeting and the Tote Placepot 7 and ITV7 Placepot will involve selected races across various meetings each day.
The finishing positions which constitute a place in any leg, unless otherwise stated, are as follows: 2 - 4 runners 1st
5 - 7 runners 1st & 2nd
8 - 15 runners 1st, 2nd & 3rd
Non-handicap of 16 or more runner’s 1st, 2nd & 3rd
Handicap of 16 or more runner’s 1st, 2nd, 3rd & 4th
The standard Tote Placepot on the first six races at a meeting is operated on all British/Irish meetings and selected overseas meetings unless otherwise stated.
Cross-meeting Placepots may also be made available. These Placepots follow the same rules as the standard Placepot, but the races may be selected from more than one race meeting, and the number of legs in the bet may exceed 6.
When a Placepot has more than six legs, as is the case with the Placepot 7 and ITV7 Placepot, to win the bet the player must select a placed horse in every leg.
If a horse named in a placepot bet proves to be a non-runner, the favourite will be the winner instead. If there are several favourites (joint or co-favourites), the horse with the lowest starting number will be the favourite.
Quadpot
Select a horse to be placed in each of races 3 to 6 at a meeting, unless otherwise stated. The finishing positions which constitute a place in any leg, unless otherwise stated, are as follows:
2 - 4 runners 1st
5 - 7 runners 1st & 2nd
8 - 15 runners 1st, 2nd & 3rd
Non-handicap of 16 or more runner’s 1st, 2nd & 3rd
Handicap of 16 or more runner’s 1st, 2nd, 3rd & 4th
The tote quadpot is operated on all British meetings and selected overseas meetings unless otherwise stated.
If a horse named in a placepot bet proves to be a non-runner, the favourite will be the winner instead. If there are several favourites (joint or co-favourites), the horse with the lowest starting number will be the favourite.
